The Little Dude is off for some mountain exploration. Destination ~ The Gifford Pinchot National Forrest. Rivers, Mountains and Streams, Fall Colors and beautiful Vistas...if it doesn't pour down rain.

Time to hit the road on a photo trip to capture Washington's beautiful fall colors. Destination is the Gifford Pinchot National Forrest in the Southern Cascade Mountains. Mount Adams, back roads, mountain streams, rivers and lakes are all on the menu. Pictures to follow.

Just off Highway 12 in Randall, Washington this road begins the journey into the backroads of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. I took FR23 and spent about 11 hours getting to Trout Lake, 56 miles away.

For the most part FR 23 is a really nice road. There is about 11 miles or so of unpaved but even that part is pretty decent. This happened to be a great day for a drive. I saw less than 4 cars in the whole 11 hours of driving. Quiet and beautiful.
